3 girls for one organization
In the last “Hiking on the Moon” mag special Alps, we met Noémie, Fanny and Sabina, who’ve become involved in a mad challenge: the Amazon Trek 2012 in aid of the organization ‘SOS Enfants Malgaches’ (SOS Children in Madagascar).
The Amazon Trek is aimed exclusively at women. This year it’s being held in a dream location, the island of Mauritius where 225 women will push themselves to the limit, over several days performing a variety of tasks: canoeing, trekking, mountain biking, archery, riding and running etc.
“Running for success”, the young women’s main aim is to promote the work of the organization; in so doing, they also hope to help an orphanage, situated in the south of the capital, Antananarivo, to become financial autonomous. ‘SOS Enfants Malgaches’ (SOS Children in Madagascar) was set up in 2004 by Yves Bontaz, a business man from the region.
In addition to the general goal of promoting the organization, the women are also involved in a very specific project: “Get everyone to school,” which is part of the SOS Children in Madagascar’s global programme. The aim is to purchase a bus which will make it easier for children to get to school during the rainy season
