A night in Preikestolen, by Martijn Doolaard
Martijn Doolaard is a Dutch designer and filmmaker, who has recently spent a night at the top of the iconic Preikestolen, this Norwegian rock with a free fall of 600 meters above the Lysefjord. An atypical bivouac in a breathtaking place.
Located in the southwestern Norway, Preikestolen is one of the most popular hike of the country. Characterized by well marked paths and diversified landscapes, it can be undertaken by most people, and the view at the top is a significant gift.
With his friend Henz, and after few hours of hike and 350 meters going up and down, Martijn put his bivouac on this remarkable rocky plateau, above the emptiness. He told in his blog : “There was nobody there anymore. The sun had just set and we got surrounded in a blue world of snow, rock and black water. Knowing that the fjord extends another 400 meter below sea level makes you feel the weight“. Seeing his pictures, we believe him!
