The river of 5 colors

Today, let’s dive into the « most beautiful river of the world ». Take your sun cream and your swimsuit, it’s gone!

Considered as the “most beautiful river in of the world”, Caño Cristales (“river of crystals”) extends over 100 km in the heart of the natural park of the Sierra Macarena, in South of Bogotá (Colombia).

From September to November, this river offers a surprising natural spectacle by changing color. The color change as a result of the presence of an endemic seaweed, the macarenia clavigera.

More commonly called “river in 5 colors”, Caño Cristales is a wonder of nature which to be worth a look. So if you have planned a visit to Colombia, don’t miss this surrealist environment!
