The latest in worldwide geological heritage sites: the Bauges National Park

In life there is the social network, wireless network and since 2004, the national geo-parks worldwide network. From the 16th to 18th September the 10th European Geo-parks Conference was held and UNESCO announced nine new sites in the network (which today makes a total of 87 spread out over 27 countries), of which one of those is in France: the Bauges Massif National Park. The domain respects the precious criteria necessary to be rewarded this title: important geological heritage site, strong management structure, and economic development strategy relying mostly on sustainable tourism. More poetically UNESCO said: “From a distance the domain implies a rocky fortress, a natural preserved island emerging up from an urban sea.
