This weekend, the Hiking on the Moon’s team went to the cinema and was seduced by the movie “Wild”. So, this morning, we wanted to share with you the touching story of Cheryl Strayed, a young woman with a destructive behaviour, who decide to hike alone more than 1000km on the Pacific Crest Trail.
The PCT is a long-distance hiking trail of around 4200 km, along the West coast of the United States, from the Mexican to the Canadian border. In addition to the length, the Pacific Crest Trail is hard due to the fact that you are alone in a wild environment. Moments of isolation are numerous and it can last several days. So, you need to be self-sufficient in water and food.
In this movie, hiking is a way to start over. For the heroine, perfectly played by Reese Witherspoon, it’s a real retrospection on her life. During the movie, you share with Cheryl her pain, fear, victory, but also the feeling of loneliness and her meetings, sometimes unexpected or touching. The whole, with the perfect music. In short, a movie that we recommend !
