Artist portrait : Hengki Koentjoro

Like every week, the Hiking on the Moon team by Quechua invite you to discover an artist and his work. Today we are going to be interested by an Indonesian photographer : Hengki Koentjoro.

After a distinguished academic career at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara (California), where he majored in video production and minored in the fine art of photography, Hengki Koentjoro returned to Indonesia to become a freelance videographer/editor, specializing in nature documentaries.

Little by little Hengki has specialized in the art of black & white photography and took pleasure to sublimate natural landscapes which surrounded him. From submarine life to lush forests, he manages to offer a new dimension to these landscapes. His perfect control of the light and the black & white contrast allows him to perfectly recreate the emotion and power that emerge from the landscapes and make us travel under a little-know universe.
